Dr Ross MacIntyre MD FRANZCO is a specialist ophthalmologist with subspecialty expertise in cataract surgery, corneal disease, and laser refractive surgery. He works in private practice in Bundoora and Wonthaggi, providing expert cataract surgery and comprehensive eye care to patients across Melbourne and its northern suburbs.

Dr MacIntyre completed his undergraduate training at Colgate University in New York, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry with Honours. He then completed his medical degree at New York Medical College, graduating with Honours, before undertaking a transitional internship at Columbia University.

He completed his ophthalmology registrar training at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where he served as Chief Resident and received the William G. Tsiaras Research Award. He then undertook a subspecialty clinical fellowship in cornea, complex cataract surgery, and refractive surgery at the world-renowned Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore — one of the leading eye centres in the world — where he was awarded the Henry D. Jampel Research Grant.

Following his fellowship, Dr MacIntyre completed additional corneal training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne before entering private practice. He holds a Staff Specialist appointment at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital's Cornea Unit, where he trains ophthalmology specialists in training and conducts ongoing clinical research.

Dr MacIntyre performs cataract surgery for patients throughout Melbourne and the northern suburbs at Northern Eye Consultants, located at Northpark Private Hospital in Bundoora. He also consults at Bass Coast Eye Centre in Wonthaggi, serving patients from the Bass Coast region and South Gippsland.

He has been awarded the International Scholar Award by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, recognising his contribution to ophthalmology education and research.
